On April 16, 2011 at 7:30 PM the LAIP Book Exchange hosts an evening of Autobiographical Delights with Lisa Napoli, journalist and author of Radio Shangri-La. Lisa will speak with us about her time in Bhutan and then be interviewed by a surprise guests. Our activity/performance for the evening will be lead by Keren Taylor, executive director of WriteGirl. We have made arrangements for copies of Radio Shangri-La, writing kits and a few other literary surprises. Please bring a book to exchange! To join us for this evening autobiography, we ask $50.

Lisa Napoli was in the grip of a mid-life crisis when a chance encounter lead her to the adventure of a lifetime. Leaving behind her job in public radio and her life in Los Angeles, she moved to the tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan to volunteer at the country's first youth radio station. Along the way, she finds the world is a beautiful and complicated place, and learns to appreciate life in a way she never imagined. Find out more about the book on the author's website.

WriteGirl is a fantastic not-for-profit that inspires girls and young women to write their own stories by providing exceptional tools, mentorship and opportunities for publication. Listen to Keren Taylor describe their genesis.
